Today it is open to people within the W14 area of Hammersmith and Fulham, including those who are inadequately housed or homeless, and for whom suitable housing accommodation is not available at prices within their means, or at all, elsewhere locally. Prospective co-op tenants must be prepared to be actively involved in the management of their own housing. We aim to allocate accommodation on the basis both of the applicants' housing need and on their commitment to co-operative management.
Generally we have around 50 tenant-members and a dozen un-housed members awaiting an opportunity to become tenants.
The Co-op is registered with the Registrar of Friendly Societies as an industrial and provident society (Co-operative) and with the Housing Corporation as a registered social landlord (RSL). We follow the Tenants' Guarantee for Fully Mutual Housing Co-operatives (see Appendix C, Item 2).
At present all our 10 houses are owned by Notting Hill Housing Trust [NHHT] in the W14 Area of Hammersmith & Fulham. Under our management agreement with NHHT the Co-op does most of the management and maintenance tasks except for major repairs and rent setting. The houses were all converted by the Trust in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
All except one, our Communal House, are divided into self-contained flats, mainly with one bedroom.
Please be aware that W14 are not accepting any new applications for membership at present.
