Are you using a faulty tumble dryer?

Whirlpool have changed their safety advice in light of the fires recently caused by tumble dryers and have advised landlords to inform their residents that those using Hotpoint, Indesit, Credit, Swan or Proline tumble dryers manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015 should immediately stop using them and keep them unplugged until the following checks are made:

 1.  Check if your model is affected and then register for a free modification if it is. Customers can do this by using the model checker on the following websites

Alternatively, customers can call Whirlpool directly on the dedicated freephone helpline 0800 1510905.

2. Follow the safety advice: It is very important that you should take heed of the latest updated safety advice from Whirlpool (March 2017) which is to NOT use your tumble dryer if it is affected until modifications have been completed

3. Once you have checked and it is confirmed if whether your tumble dryer is affected and you have been registered for modification, Whirlpool will arrange for an engineer to visit free of charge to carry out the necessary modification. The appointment will last for approximately one hour.

4. Register all your appliances (old or new) at www.registermyappliance.org.uk   This will help manufacturers find you should you need to be contacted in future about any recall/safety issues that arise during the life of your appliances.
