Anti-social Behaviour
Our tenancy agreements contain clauses requiring residents not to do or permit anything that causes a nuisance or annoyance to their neighbours or others in the locality. Customers are therefore responsible for the actions of all members of their household, including children, lodgers, animals and visitors. Co-op Homes will take enforcement action where terms of the tenancy agreement have been breached.
We do, however, expect a degree of tolerance to the different lifestyles of others and recognise that not everyone can expect to lead a life of complete peace and quiet in the areas where we live. Many issues can also be resolved simply by you talking to your neighbour who may not be aware that their actions are causing
you distress.
As part of our community housing work we will deal with issues such as:
- Environmental nuisance including graffiti and fly tipping
- Nuisance caused by pets
- Untidy gardens
In more serious matters such as those listed below we will refer cases to other local agencies, such as the Police:
- Harassment, including hate and race hate incidents
- Violence or threatening behaviour
- Criminal behaviour, including drug use or dealing
- Domestic abuse and violence
- Persistent threats or verbal abuse
- Persistent and serious neighbour noise
